Mostar’s famous Stari Most bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the backdrop for spectacular cliff diving at the tour’s sixth stop. Divers will take off from the fortified bridge into the Neretva river below.
With the test jumps from 27m high platform at the Old Bridge in Mostar competition for the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series began. The first two series of competitive jumps are scheduled today from 3pm, and grand finale will be tomorrow at Saturday, August 24 at 1pm.
The Old Bridge will feature 14 men and 10 women cliff divers from the top of the world cliff diving. Jumpers, as in previous competitions, are expected to have a lot of support from the audience, which will be in the area under and around Old Bridge.
Current man and woman champions, Englishman Gary Hunt
and Australian Rhiannan Iffland
arrive in Mostar with the intention of defending the championship titles on penultimate "station" of the season.
Rhiannan Iffland also has an additional motive - the three-time champion and the most successful woman jumper in championship history lacks victory at Old Bridge.
The Railways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina provided special transport this year by a talgo train from Sarajevo. The train will leave for Mostar on Saturday at 9:15 am, with a return from Mostar scheduled for the same day at 7pm.
In addition to the competition itself, the organizers also organized a rich accompanying program. Over the next two days at the Old Town Street Fest, a large number of popular local and regional performers will entertain the audience at concerts, club playing and DJ parties at several stages in the Old Town of Mostar.
