According to the first data from theeVisitor system which contains tourist traffic realized in the commercial and non-commercial segment as well as the nautical charter, in Croatia today there have been 20.013.805 arrivals (+ 5%) and 107.031.617 overnight stays (+ 2%), which is for the first time that number of tourist arrivals in one tourist year exceeded 20 million. At the same time, the figure exceeded 107 million overnight stays across Croatia for the first time.
Croatian tourism has experienced a great boom over the last few years, numerous new high quality accommodation facilities have been opened and new offers created. Tourism has indeed become a real generator of economic development, says Croatian Minister of Tourism Mr. Gari Cappelli

"This historic results, this challenging tourist year in which we have exceeded 20 million tourist arrivals for the first time is a testament and confirmation of the quality synergy between the public and private sectors without which such results would not be possible. Government of Croatia is aware of the importance of tourism and that is why we are constantly working on enhancing the competitiveness of tourism in cooperation with the participants in the tourist system, so that and in the future Croatian tourism will be an example of quality and success. I believe that this record results will be a motivation for everyone to continue to build and make Croatian tourism even better", Mr. Cappelli concluded.
After Croatia in October has exceeded tourist traffic which was achieved in whole year 2018, these historic 20 million tourist arrivals are a further confirmation of the strength and stability of the Croatian tourism sector, which in this very challenging year has achieved new excellent results - points out Mr. Kristjan Staničić
, director of the Croatian National Tourist Board. "We have a challenging 2020 year ahead of us, where our goal will be to keep up the positive trends, and that we will be able to succeed in it is confirmed by the many partners we have spoken with at one of the world's largest tourism fairs WTM in London, as well as in China's largest import trade fair the China International Import Expo which is just being held in Shanghai", said Kristjan Staničić, adding that a large number of tour operators and airlines are announcing an expand of the program offers for Croatia next year.
So far this year most overnight stays were realized from the markets of Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Poland, Italy, Czech Republic and the United Kingdom, while from non-European countries most overnights were realized from the markets of the United States, Australia, Canada, South Korea and China. Looking at destinations, the most overnight stays were spent in Dubrovnik, Rovinj, Poreč, Split and Medulin.
