Extended weekend for 1st May holiday was perfect opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful islands on the Adriatic, Korcula. In Lumbarda, I decided to look for a relaxation after a hard working week. I woke up early and started my trip to Orebic.
In the ferry port I met a well-known person, my friend Denis from Split. After a short ride on the boat, we sit on the bike and head for a ride. Bicycling from the Old Town we pass through the rich cultural heritage of the island, overlooking the ancient churches and stone palace from the Roman times.
Following the road, we enter the heart of the island, passing through the shade of coniferous forests. Descending to the small town of Lumabarda, we pass through macadam paths, through vineyards and olive trees and use the opportunity to take some photos. In Lumbarda, we meet locals as they work in a orchard. They offered us the oranges and figs that were the real refreshment. After a little break we are moving on to the famous sandy beach of Lumbarda.
The weather was ideal, and the temperature was surprisingly high for the spring, so we took this opportunity to open the swimming season. After a refreshing break at the beach we returned back to the Old Town.
For the end of a great day, we had dinner at Orebic with local specialties, fish and seafood.
A cycling excursion created for lovers of Mediterranean climate and island beauties
Combination of asphalt and macadam substrates, I recommend riding in the spring and early or late summer
