Velebit is part of the Via Dinarica trail encompassing the largest karst field on earth. Movement of plate tectonics have created a limestone chain that have aligned themselves over 1,000 kilometers through the heart of the western Balkans. The heart of the Dinaric Alps cuts through northern Montenegro and most of Bosnia and Herzegovina before reaching the Croatian coastlines of the Adriatic Sea.
Being 145km long, Velebit is the longest stretch of mountains in the whole of Croatia. The area is protected as a nature park and the south part of Velebit and Paklenica is a national preserved treasure. Packed with biodiversity and dynamic scenery the area provides stunning views of the landscape in which throughout the hike you can absorb it's beauties and refreshing mountain air.
The hiking tour starts from the point of North Velebit and we hike through the nature park, Velebit mountain ,Rozanski kukovi and the peak of Golubic kuk. There will be time for a included mountain rest and picnic where upon the journey you have a specialised guide. Upon request it can be arranged to be dropped off at the starting point from locations: Zadar, Biograd na moru, Šibenik, Split as well as having a dinner in the mountainous ambience.
