The Railroad of Ciro is historically remembered for it's steam locomotives, it passes through the landscapes of Hercegovina starting in Mostar alongside the Neretva river all the way across the border of Croatia, ending in Dubrovnik.
The construction of this trail started in 1898 and ended in 1901.
Today, the railroad is reconstructed into a cycling track.
Our excursion starts with a visit to the famous Vjetrenica cave, the largest and most important cave in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Back on our bikes, we ride from Zavala to Trebinje, stopping at various resting and observational spots.
We then take a break for lunch in a traditional restaurant.
After replenishment of energy the trip continues, in which the trail surrounds Trebinje and overlooks the beautiful nature as well as some historical remains. After that we proceed to the ending of our tour in Zavala.
