Excursion's informationsPelješac peninsula in southern Dalmatia in Croatia is part of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. Inhabited since the ancient times of Illyrian tribes, Greeks and Romans, it is known not only by its vineyards and quality wines, but also by its centuries longue tradition of navigation.
Typical houses of the captains can be seen in the villages along the coast. One of the villages is Kučište, on the south west side of peninsula, a small village 5 kilometres from Orebić. Many of these captains’ houses were recently renovated for tourist needs and lost its original aspect. However, those houses still represent important architectural examples of Pelješac region.
Above Orebić there is the old cemetery, the Franciscan monastery and the church of Our Lady of Angels, from 15th century, the time of Dubrovnik Republic.
Our hiking tour takes approximately 3 hours. We start by up-hill walk from Kučište and we continue towards the monastery on 150 meters of altitude.
This hiking path offers beautiful views of the canal between Pelješac peninsula and the island of Korčula, town of Korčula, small enticing islands, vineyards and olive groves of peninsula...
After the visit of Monastery and the church of Our Lady of Angels, we continue our walking toward the church Our Lady of Carmen, where we take a break for our picnic lunch.
Afterwards, we continue our hiking or descent towards Orebić (1 hour approximately). Depending on weather, there is also possibility of spending some free time on Orebić beaches.
