Excursion's informationsKorčula is one of the largest and most wooded islands of Croatia.
65 % of this island is covered by one dense Mediterranean vegetation of the pine forest and of the bush, the aromatic and medicinal plants, without to forget many different kind of flowers.
Main activities of the local people are tourism, sea fishing, shipbuilding, stone cutting, viticulture, olive and citrus culture, fig and almond trees.
Next to natural beauties, this island offers us one rich cultural Heritage, with remains of different Mediterranean civilisations (prehistory, Roman, Greek and Kroatisch periods, Venetians, Austrian and British times, each one letting traces on the ground and in the island's history. Streets and alleys, monasteries and klosters, palaces and houses, builded with local stone, constitute one mosaic of different times and cultures.
We start our walk fom Zrnovo, in the island's centrum, by the ways wich were used in the former times, going to the South Coast's strands and the hills. We go trough vineyards and oliversies, on the way to the strands of Bratinja luka and Orlanduša, on the island's South Coast. Of course, a time will be dedicated to swim in the Adriatic.
We walk up to the hill of Smrč, to have a lunch in a nice little farm. Further, we walk by a trail trough the pine forest. Possibility to swim in the Bay of Pavja luka. Than we walk trough the dense Mediterranean vegetation, on the way to the hamlet of Postrana, where we finish our full day's walking.
