Josip Broz Tito, late leader of former Yugoslavia, ordered the building of a secret bunker in the 1950's as safeguard from a nuclear attack. Located 270m underground, near the Bosnian town of Konjic, the project took 26 years to complete, and was built at a cost of just under £3 billion. Made in accordance to allow 350 people to live and work for six months without ever coming outside. This is the story of one of the largest and best-kept secrets of former Yugoslavia, once a miracle of construction, made as a kind of labyrinth, a complex of residential areas, conference rooms, offices, halls for strategic planning, a ‘presidential bloc’ and other sections. Teams of workers changed so no one would know much about the bunker, and workers were brought there blindfolded so they wouldn’t know its location. The bunker is now a venue for contemporary art.Jablanica is a town situated in Bosnia and Hercegovina known for it's hiking trails and beautiful surrounding greenery and mountains, it is rich in culture and history and to this day there is much tradition and sights to learn from. The meeting point of this tour can be either Mostar or Sarajevo and we take on the route of middle Hercegovina. Our first visit is to Tito's secret bunker followed by a lunch of traditional food, commonly lamb in the town Jablanica. After recharging we sightsee the battle for the wounded which is a visit to the broken bridge over Neretva, where thereafter upon request can be an arranged transfer to or from the meeting point Mostar or Sarajevo.
