Fažana

Fažana

Position

Fažana is located on the southwestern part of the western coast of Istria in the Fažana Channel. It is the starting point for the Brijuni Islands - a national park and a beautiful paradise off the coast. It is also called the pearl of the western coast as it is one of the largest peninsulas in Croatia.

History

The population has always been involved in fisheries and farming. The Romans, Byzantians, Venetians, the military and civilian authorities of the Austro-Hungarians met here and collided. Josip Broz Tito president of former Yugoslavia was sent to Fažana for the first time for the Brioni islands. The old town square of Fazana is made up of old squares and houses nestled next to each other. Enjoy visits to the parish church of Sv. Kuzme and Damjana, located in the very heart of the city, the church of Sv. Mary of Carmel, the church of St. Elisha, the church of Sv. Ivan and numerous other cultural heritage of this place.
