Day 2. Brač island
Except for its coves and transparent and blissfully unspoilt water, its vineyards and olive groves, the island is known for its interesting history and architecture Bol & Zlatni Rat Beach You will open in Bol the doors of history, which are going back to the ancient times. The Roman piscinas testify it and the grave monuments and relief. There are also the old Christian sarcophagus with the engraved crosses, the pre Romanic church of St. Ivan and St. Tudor (11th c.) on which foundations is discovered an late antique group of buildings, the residence of the bishop (12th c.), the church Madonna of graces (15th c.), the fortified gothic summer palace, the renaissance and baroque palace with the worthy gallery of contemporary Croatian art and the church Madonna of Karmel. The Zlatni rat beach spreads to the west of Bol and is one of the biggest and most beautiful natural beaches on the Adriatic. Like a tongue stretching almost half a kilometre into the sea, it grows with the drifting deposits of tiny pebbles, changing its shape depending on the wind and the direction of the waves. Day 3. Hvar island
Due to its crystal-clear sea, idyllic coves, pine forests, lavender fields and delicious and healthy Mediterranean cuisine, the island of Hvar is the perfect choice for your stop on almost every sea route in the Eastern Adriatic. Pottery finds in the Markova and Grapčeva Caves suggest that the island of Hvar was inhabited in ancient times. The ancient Greeks established the historic centre of Stari Grad and parcelled out Stari Grad Plain. Both of these sites are now on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Romans built their country houses here, while the Venetians gave the town its recognisable appearance and culture. Hvar town The picturesque city of Hvar is situated on the coast of a bay protected by an archipelago of 21 islands with beautiful beaches. Some of the most famous Croatian writers and poets of the 15th and 16th century came from Hvar. The town is also home to the very first civic theatre in Europe, established in 1612. Day 4. Korčula island, southern coast
In the island´s centrum following the age-old path used by people and villagers, going towards the South Coast´s hills. We go through vineyards and olive groves as we make our way to the strands of Bratinja luka and Orlanduša, located on the island´s South Coast. Lastly, we stroll through the dense Mediterranean vegetation, on the way to the hamlet of Postrana. Vela Luka town The picturesque town of Vela Luka is the largest town on the island of Korčula, and the second largest town in the Adriatic islands. Located on the west side of the island, its gulf position is a safe anchorage and port for sailors. Day 5. Pelješac penninsula & Korčula town
Korčula town It is a historic fortified town on the protected east coast of the island of Korčula. The old city is surrounded by walls, and the streets are arranged in a herringbone pattern allowing free circulation of air but protecting against strong winds. The town´s historic sites include the central Gothic and Renaissance Cathedral of St Mark, the Town Hall and the massive city fortifications. The 15th-century Franciscan monastery with a beautiful cloister is situated on the islet of Badija, near Korčula Town. Marco Polo was born in 1254. in Korčula, explored the world on a grand scale and documented his experiences. Day 6. Mljet island
The most beautiful and most forested island in the Adriatic, untouched nature, the island´s mysticism, olive groves, vineyards and rich forests are ideal places to research the rich flora and fauna, and to peacefully enjoy the pristine beauty of the natural surroundings. It was already mentioned in the fourth century BC in Greek writing, and the numerous Greek amphora and shipwrecks along the coast of Mljet are evidence that Greek sailors stayed on the shores of Mljet. NP Mljet, Lakes The central parts of the park are made up of the salt lakes, Veliko jezero (Big Lake) with the Isle of St. Mary and Malo jezero (Small Lake). The small island of St. Mary, located on the Big Lake is home to an ancient benedictine monastery and church from the 12th century. Visit the oysters production, which due to the hundred years of tradition and excellent circulation of seawater, have a unique taste. Ston Town: Medieval Wall & Saltworks From Ston to Mali Ston was built the longest medieval wall in Europe which was protecting the salt production in Ston. Walking through the walls, we come to the town of Stone and its famous old salt production, which still works. On Request: By boat, Oysters production Visit the oysters production in Mali Ston Bay, which due to the hundred years of tradition and excellent circulation of seawater, have a unique taste. Oysters tasting Lunch: seafood Cruising: Elaphiti Islands Elaphiti Islands Sailing to the Elaphite islands, discovering the lush vegetation of the islands and beaches. We will stop for a walking tour on the island of Lopud and visit the beautiful part of the archipelago, then we will walk from the port of Lopud towards the south coast to enjoy the sandy Šunj beach. |
