Boat trip: Oysters and shellfish farms in Mali Ston
Start point: Mali Ston
Mali Ston bay
Ston is a Medieval town whose history reaches back as far as the 14th century. It is a small town with the longest stone wall in Europe, paved with narrow quiet stone streets, noble ancient houses and traces of ancient cultures such as greeks and illyrians. Its former value as a 'salt city' gets confirmed even today being one of the oldest active salt-works in the world. These salt works have remained faithful to the tradition and to the natural way of salt production which has not changed since remote ages. The culture is preserved as well as the bountiful nature that surrounds this village. From vast forested hills and ancient architecture where stunning views of sea and untouched scenery can be witnessed.
Bay of Mali Ston is in the smaller neighboring village called Mali Ston meaning small ston in the Adriatic Sea, enclosed by the Pelješac peninsula and the mainland. It has been well-known for its mussel and oyster-growing farm since the Roman times, and the oysters from this area are an acknowledged natural aphrodisiac that has made this region world-famous. Exquisite quality food, natural ingredients, sea and magnificent scenery is what makes this place unique in it's beauty. This tour is a wonderful fish picnic opportunity, within our offer there is included a boat ride: Mali Ston bay, shellfish farm, islands of life. A lunch of fish or chicken from the grill as well as a drink on the boat of soft drinks and wine and upon request the excursion can be made private.
