Dubrovnik – Ivanica – Trebinje: Cycling the Border, Nature & Heritage
Start point: Dubrovnik
The cycling tour begins in the famous Dubrovnik, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, from where we ride uphill towards the Brgat – Ivanica border crossing. Crossing the border, we enter the untouched landscapes of southeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina, with panoramic views of the Adriatic and the Dubrovnik hinterland.
The route continues through Ivanica, once a popular excursion spot and border village, today an attractive place for panoramic cycling. A pleasant ride follows towards Trebinje, one of the most beautiful towns in the region, located on the banks of the Trebišnjica River, where we are welcomed by old bridges, plane trees, and the charm of local architecture.
Trebinje: The City of Wine, Sun & Stone
Upon arrival in Trebinje, we explore the old town and enjoy a break in the shade of the city’s plane trees. The town is famous for its wine-making tradition, cultural heritage, and mild climate, which makes it the perfect ending point of the route.
Break: Coffee or lunch along the Trebišnjica River
Wine Route: Tvrdoš and Local Wineries
Optionally, we offer a visit to the Tvrdoš Winery, renowned for its authentic grape varieties such as Žilavka and Vranac. Wine tasting with local cheese and prosciutto provides a truly authentic regional experience.
Wine Tasting: Tvrdoš Monastery
Border crossing: Gornji Brgat – Ivanica (HR/BIH)
