The Brijuni Islands are a group of fourteen small islands in the Croatian part of the northern Adriatic Sea. The largest island, Veliki Brijun Island, lies 2km off the coast. In 1945 after World War II the Brijuni became part of Yugoslavia and President Marshal Josip Broz Tito made the Islands his personal State Summer Residence.

On the Brijuni there are several archaeological and cultural sites. On Veliki Brijun Island over 200 dinosaur footprints have been discovered. There are also two ancient Roman villa remains, from the 2nd Century BC and remains of a Byzantine palace. The majority of the flora on the archipelago of the Brijuni islands has the typical Mediterranean characteristics. It is a unique example of exceptional beauty and diverse natural environment in hand with interesting history.

Archaeological tour:
The tour includes a visit to the site that is the richest in strata, a site which has also been inhabited for the longest time on Brijuni, the Byzantine castrum, and the nearby St. Mary's basilica, the oldest Christian building on the island. It continues with a hill-fort from the Bronze Age and a sumptuous Roman residential villa from the 1st century in Verige Bay. The tour ends with a visit to the church of St. German from the 15th century which houses a part of the original mosaic from the Roman villa in Verige Bay.
At the very entry to the port of Veli Brijun, an unusual building clearly stands out - the Boathouse. It was built in 1902 in the Secession style of Austro-Hungarian architecture, and to this day it has attracted attention. It was home to Dr. Otto Lenz, the island doctor, in relation to whom this house has been called "La casa del Dottore" (the Doctor's House).
