Excursion's informations

Pelješac peninsula, Our Lady of Angels
Start point: Kućište, Orebić

Walk and discover our heritage:
Pelješac peninsula in southern Dalmatia in Croatia is part of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. Inhabited since the ancient times by Illyrian tribes, Greeks and Romans, it is known not only by its vineyards and quality wines, but also its long tradition of navigation. Typical houses of the captains can be seen in the villages along the coast. One of these is Kučište, on the south west side of the peninsula, it is a small village 5 kilometres from Orebić. Many of these traditional captains’ houses have recently been renovated for tourist needs and lost its original aspect. However, these houses still represent important architectural examples of the Pelješac region. Above Orebić there is a old cemetery, the Franciscan monastery and the church of Our Lady of Angels, from the 15th century at the time of Dubrovnik Republic.

Our hiking tour takes approximately 3 hours. We start with an up-hill walk from Kučište towards the monastery at 150 meters of altitude. The hiking path offers beautiful views of the canal between Pelješac peninsula and the island of Korčula. The town of Korčula is part of a number of small enticing islands, containing vineyards and olive groves of the peninsula. After a visit to the Monastery and the church of Our Lady of Angels, we continue walking towards the church Our Lady of Carmen. Afterwards, we continue walking and descending towards Orebić. Depending on weather, there is also possibility of spending some free time on the beaches of Orebić.
