Comprehensive area of the city is located on the plateau of average height of 700 to 900m which is surrounded by hills at over 1500m above sea level. Lowest area measures a height of 210 (Kupa valley), and the highest 1528 meters (Risnjak National Park). Although this natural characteristic suggests a distinct variety of areas; relief has extremely continental character, and climate is mountain.
