The island of Hvar, as an equal member of the world's tourist elite, is not the only advantage of the number of hours of sunshine per year, but also the archipelago that surrounds it -
Pakleni otoci.
In the spring season in Hvar you can see quite sunny weather. The sea is pleasant enough for swimming, and the main tourist attractions and water sports are launched. Diving, jet skiing, paddleboarding, a pleasant kayaking adventure around the Hell Islands are just some of the interesting activities that will win you over.
You can get to Pakleni otok from the town of Hvar by taxi boat or by boat from Mandrač. A group of about twenty islets and cliffs stretching in front of the town of Hvar called the Pakleni otoci (or as Hvar residents simply say Hvarski škoji) is unique and the most recognizable natural beauty of Hvar. Although it seems so, the name has nothing to do with hell. Namely, this group of islands is also known as Paklinski otoci. They got their name from paklina, a type of pine resin, which was used in shipbuilding. As a consequence of the local dialect, the adjective of the word "hell" reads "pakleni", so the group is called Pakleni otoci.
Once bare, tame islets covered only with fragrant heather, with a few arable areas (where even grain was sown in the old days) and the small village of Vloka, today represent a spacious Hvar tourist resort - the widely known Hvar's sunny Arcadia. The Pakleni Islands are the most beautiful part of the Hvar Riviera. Playful low wooded islets immersed in the clear sea, several bathing areas, picnic areas, and countless small hidden coves, stone terraces facing the sun and beautiful deserted bays, represent, as someone said, "Arcadia at your fingertips".
One of the most famous coves is on the island of Klement, where the
Palmižana beach and nautical marina are located.
Vinogradišće bay on the south side of the island is surrounded by a dense pine forest. It delights with the scents of heather and rosemary, as well as many other exotic plants. On Palmižana, lovers of cocktails and excellent Hvar wines will find a corner for themselves in one of the cafes and restaurants with Hvar specialties.
The Pakleni Islands are a favorite excursion destination for boaters who are constantly looking for hidden coves, and there are indeed many of them here. The islands are home to the beautiful
bay of Ždrilca with several pebble beaches and also the famous traditional Hvar bathing place - Jerolim. If you are looking for peace and relaxation with the scent of pine trees and the song of crickets, the pebble beach on the southern side of Jerolim or the stone rugs that plunge into the azure sea are the right places for your unforgettable vacation.

Unimaginable natural beauty, beautiful sandy beaches with a shallow bottom, and some of the most beautiful underwater locations for diving await you on the Pakleni otoci.
